Best pastry for mince pies! Thank you so much! I usually have an annual nightmare trying to get the pies out of the tin and its a long affair making them, but this recipe was so speedy and stress free. Thank you, thank you!!! Merry Christmas

This is the best mince pie recipe I’ve ever used. I can never go back to store bought now.

I followed this recipe yesterday as I wanted to make mince pies for my Grandad who likes them and isn’t eating very well at the moment. They’re delicious! Best pastry I’ve made, so glad I’ve found this recipe. Mince pies all year round!

This is likely over filled like you say, but you can use a fork, or pinch the pastry x

I tried pushing the pastry up against the side but I’ve had a number of leakages (perhaps to much liquid in my filling but just want to make sure it’s not my poor sealing technique) 😊

Will it be ok if I use smaller hole tins for the mince pies or will it alter the oven timing, also is the pastry “sweet shortcrust”.
Thankyou
Donna

Hi,
If I don’t want a big alcohol taste could I use half amount of brandy. If so would I need to use something else to make up the liquid quantity or would it be ok with kit 80ml brandy and nothing else. If I need more liquid or flavour what would you recommend for the rest of the liquid amount (another 70ml).
Thanks

You can use plain flour and half the fat amount to flour, use butter or trex or a mixture of both.
